Federal Land Asset Inventory Reform Act (FLAIR) Introduced In House and Senate

Representative Ron Kind (D-Wis.) and Chris Cannon (R-Utah) introduced the Federal Land Asset Inventory Reform (FLAIR) Act (H.R. 5532) on March 5, 2008. Currently, fourteen representatives co-sponsor this bill, including Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Rep. Thomas Petri (R-WI). A Senate verion of this bill (S. 3043) was introduced on May 20, 2008 by Senators Claire McCaskill (D-MO) and Orrin Hatch (R-UT). The FLAIR Act, if passed, would authize the Department of Interior to compile a current, accurate inventory of Federal land ownership, as called for by the Government Accountability Office and the National Academy of Sciences.
